Mark graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Business in 1969. Upon graduation, he joined the USMC as an aviator and served until 1973. He then entered the insurance industry as a Pension Specialist for Aetna.

In 1976 Mark purchased an independent brokerage general agency in Indianapolis, Indiana now known as Rushing Financial Group.

​Mark is a member of the Capitas Board of Directors, member of the local Estate Planning Council and National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors, Past President and member of International Association of Financial Planning of Indiana, and Adjutant Faculty Member of Indiana/Purdue University at Indianapolis.
